Blockchain Collaboratory

Collaboratory sessions are 1-hour Zoom webinars facilitatedby Shawn Muma, accompanied by a Blockchain industry expert who hassignificantly contributed to the Blockchain ecosystem either technically orfrom a business perspective. The Collaboratory will allow participating Membersto get their strategic and tactical questions answered in an interactiveenvironment as well as seek practical advice for the applicability of aBlockchain solution in their business. Session 10: Blockchain based Bill of Lading

Session 9: Succeeding With Enterprise Blockchain

Our ninth Collaboratory session will feature Ganesh Wadawadigi, Chief Solution Owner, Blockchain for Supply Chain at SAP. Ganesh will walk us through SAP's journey in Blockchain and shares his views on how to move forward with enterprise Blockchain solutions.

Ganesh Wadawadigi has more than two decades of experience in the areas of Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing and has co-authored the book, SAP Leonardo: An Introduction to the Intelligent Enterprise. Currently, he is responsible for driving SAP’s Blockchain for Supply Chain solution and go-to-market strategy while working closely with customers across multiple industries.

Prior to SAP, Ganesh was the Director of Corporate Development at Sterling Commerce (now IBM) where his focus areas were RFID and B2B supply chain collaboration. Ganesh started his career in Supply Chain Management at i2 Technologies (now JDA) where he held several leadership roles in consulting, High-Tech industry solution management, product marketing, and product strategy. While at i2, Ganesh was granted 3 patents by USPTO and played a pivotal role in launching several flagship supply chain solutions.

Ganesh received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University while interning at NASA Ames Research Center, California, and his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Session 8: How can Blockchain and GDPR co-exist?

Our eighth Blockchain Collaboratory session will feature a discussion of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its implications for Blockchain automation by Dave Kappos, Rob Sumroy and Jody Cleworth.

David Kappos is a partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and is one of the foremost lawyers in the field of intellectual property. He also led the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) from 2009-2013.

Rob Sumroy is a partner at Slaughter and May and is co-head of the firm’s global data protection and privacy practice, as well as leading Slaughter and May’s emerging technology, and cyber advisory units.

Jody is the Founder of Marine Transport International (MTI), he has 16 years’ experience in the container shipping market. MTI automated transport supply chain using Blockchain, which increased their data efficiency and security.

The speakers will walk us through how Blockchain and GDPR can work together using the real-life case study of MTI.

Session 7: Unlocking Blockchain’s Potential for the Modern Supply Chains

IvanBjelajac is the CEO of MVP Workshop- a Blockchain Solution Provider,specialized in Decentralized Business Models,Tokenization of Assets andResearch & Product Development.

BranimirRakic is the Co-founder and CTO of Origin Trail-a Blockchain Solution Provider,specialized in developing Supply Chain solutions.

Session 6: Using Blockchain to Manage Freights in European Ports

Jody is an experienced manager in both big business and start-up companies and has 16 years’ experience in the container shipping market. Session 5: Creating standards for smart contracts

The fifth collaboratory session will feature Houman Shadab, director of the open source legal technology consortium- Accord Project and a professor at New York Law School. The Accord Project ( is a nonprofit consortium of attorneys, technologists, and organizations collaborating to set standards and develop open source technology for smart legal contracts. The Project is comprised of various working groups that produce a range of deliverables that include white papers, use cases, and contributions to open source projects. Supply chain applications are a major focus of the Accord Project.

Session 4: Smart contracts made simple

The fourth collaboratory session will feature Juan Miguel Pérez , Co-founder at Finboot. Juan is an engineer and an entrepreneur who started his career in scientific research with a strong focus on developing technologies for various industrial applications.For the past two years he has turned his focus to Blockchain technology and in particular examining the potential of the smart contracts in the business world. He co-founded Finboot in 2016 with the mission to help companies integrate Blockchain and Smart Contracts into their everyday operations.

Session 3: Results- Using Blockchain to enable DevOps workflow

Session 2: Blockchain in Supply chain

The second collaboratory session will feature Todd Taylor , Professor of Practice in the supply chain department of Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. He is the founder of the ASU Blockchain Research Lab and co-founder of Aperio-a blockchain solution provider and incubator which is now part of Sweetbridge Inc. He is an expert in supply chain strategy and technology. Todd worked for Compaq, HP and IBM for over 25 years in multiple technology and operations functions. He also co-founded Ops Rules which is now part of Accenture Analytics.

Todd is going to talk about the potential impact of Blockchain in supply chain and discuss various use cases.The last 30 minutes of the sessions will be open to Q&A and discussions.

Session 1: Blockchain 101

Session 1 will feature two Blockchain experts Alex Shevchenko, Head of the Exonum Blockchain platform, and Irving Wladawsky Berger, Visiting Lecturer in Information Technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Alex pioneered the use of Blockchain from the early days of Bitcoin and has now turned his attention to bringing Blockchain technology to business applications, especially supply chain. Dr. Wladawsky Berger is a Fellow of MIT’s Initiative on the Digital Economy and has written extensively on the impact of Blockchain in digital supply chains.

Alex and Irving will give a short overview of Blockchain technology, Blockchain applications in supply chain and the main Blockchain platforms. Half of the session will be open for Q&A and a collaborative conversation on Blockchain.
