Blockchain Collaboratory

DSCI invites its Members to participate in the Blockchain Collaboratory. Monthly Collaboratory sessions are 1-hour Zoom webinars facilitated by Shawn Muma and Amy Millette, accompanied by a Blockchain industry expert who has significantly contributed to the Blockchain ecosystem either technically or from a business perspective. The Collaboratory will allow participating Members to get their strategic and tactical questions answered in an interactive environment as well as seek practical advice for the applicability of a Blockchain solution in their business. At least half of each session will be left open for a collaborative peer-to-peer discussion. Please see below to register for Collaboratory sessions.

Session 2: Blockchain in Supply chain

The second collaboratory session will feature Todd Taylor , Professor of Practice in the supply chain department of Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.  He is the founder of the ASU Blockchain Research Lab and co-founder of Aperio-a blockchain solution provider and incubator which is now part of Sweetbridge Inc. He is an expert in supply chain strategy and technology. Todd worked for Compaq, HP and IBM for over 25 years in multiple technology and operations functions. He also co-founded Ops Rules which is now part of Accenture Analytics.  

Todd is going to talk about the potential impact of Blockchain in supply chain and discuss various use cases.The last 30 minutes of the sessions will be open to Q&A and discussions.

Session 1: Blockchain 101

Session 1 will feature two Blockchain experts Alex Shevchenko, Head of the Exonum Blockchain platform, and Irving Wladawsky Berger, Visiting Lecturer in Information Technology at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Alex pioneered the use of Blockchain from the early days of Bitcoin and has now turned his attention to bringing Blockchain technology to business applications, especially supply chain. Dr. Wladawsky Berger is a Fellow of MIT’s Initiative on the Digital Economy and has written extensively on the impact of Blockchain in digital supply chains.
 
Alex and Irving will give a short overview of Blockchain technology, Blockchain applications in supply chain and the main Blockchain platforms. Half of the session will be open for Q&A and a collaborative conversation on Blockchain.
